We’re Legal — So Why Is Social Media Treating Us Like We’re Not?

We’re Highbrow — a small, locally owned cannabis company in Maine. We’ve built our business on education, transparency, and full compliance with both state laws and Meta’s community guidelines. And yet, we’ve had three Instagram accounts permanently deleted… with zero explanation.

We don’t sell through posts. We always include 21+ disclaimers. We link to our website. We follow every rule.

Still, every time we start gaining traction online, we get wiped out. No warning. No specifics. Just a generic “community guidelines violation” — and we’re gone.

What’s worse? The decisions aren’t even made by real people. Appeals lead to the same automated responses, and there’s no real way to defend ourselves or even know what triggered the removal. Years of content, connection, and community — just erased.

This doesn’t just hurt us. It hurts small, legal cannabis businesses everywhere. We don’t have legal teams or big ad budgets. We rely on organic reach — sharing knowledge, building trust, and doing things the right way.

We work closely with Maine’s Office of Cannabis Policy. We collaborate with local legislators. We pride ourselves on operating with integrity — online and off.

But social platforms act like we don’t belong here. And that has to change.

We’re not giving up. We’ll keep showing up — one post, one follower, one story at a time. But we’d rather work with platforms like Meta, not against them. Legal businesses deserve a seat at the table — not to be silenced by bots.

If you’re in this space and have faced the same struggles, let’s connect. This conversation is bigger than us — and it’s time to turn up the volume.
